The sound of a block rim with the look of a bent rim. It features a block style ash rim that has been laminated with maple inside and out. Side position markers, frailing scoop and vintage style grover tuners. It has a walnut headstock overlay, heel cap and a maple pinstripe. The neck is maple with a rosewood fretboard and a brass slide plate. I have a just completed fretless openback. A very pleasing banjo for all styles of banjo playing.
All of these elements combine to make this a versatile open-back banjo, with a classic bright solid sound. The pot assembly is constructed with a premium quality 3-ply rock maple rim, nickel-plated hardware, strong brackets shoe construction, a 24-piece flange, a top frosted head, one piece armrest, and a classic Waverley style tailpiece. A Vega 'Star' is inlaid in the face of the headstock, mother of pearl dots on the polished smooth ebony fingerboard, and a satin finish. The bright and responsive Vega Little Wonder - Planetary Tuner Model has been up-graded with Deering nickel plated planetary tuners, a geared fifth string tuner, a black peg-head overlay with white Vega letters.
Shipping costs would be on top of asking price. I'd prefer local pickup, but I could get a quote from a courier if that's not feasible. I purchased this banjo a year ago but haven't played it much due to my banjo teacher leaving Manchester - I'd rather this beautiful instrument was being played! Includes hard case, nylon strap, and stand.
